Since the appearance of META AM V4, the AM platform has continued to evolve.
It reconciles the irreconcilable - performance and fun!
Frame, kinematic, geometry and stiffness,
the META AM 29 has been designed exclusively for 29-inch wheels.
Let's start with the frame.
We didn’t want the bike to be as stiff as possible.
We were looking for the ideal compromise between accuracy and tolerance.
In this case, the stiffness of the frame is specifically accommodating for large wheels.
The bike gains in both precision and liveness and the bigger wheels bring the necessary strength and reliability through rough sections of track.
TECH
The suspension system uses our Contact System again.
A design that allows us to accurately work the behaviour of the suspension.
The fixed main pivot point provides real fun and simplicity.
The bike is then predictable in all circumstances.
The progressiveness of the frame is designed to provide good tyre-to-ground contact,
a good hold halfway through the travel and a smooth end of travel.
Throughout,
the bike remains dynamic when you push with your feet to generate speed.
The position of the main pivot point has changed significantly.
It allows more dynamism,
better pedalling efficiency and a reduction of kickback (loss of chain tension on the pedals).
On long enduro races,
saving the rider’s energy is always welcome,
even for our super fit EWS riders.
The new seat stay shape and its new bridge provide more torsional stiffness.
The rocker has larger bearings for more reliability and more rigidity.
Its shape contributes to the overall stiffness of the chassis.
We’ve never specifically tried to make the stiffest bikes on the market.
In fact, we feel it’s more important to have the right balance between precision,
tolerance, dynamism and grip.
However, with the introduction of bigger wheels,
we thought it was important to stiffen the frame to keep that balance.
Bigger wheels means more leverage onto the frame and 29’’ wheels tend to flex more than 27.5.
GEOMETRY
The geometry of the META explains to a large extent,
why this bike is so fun to ride. It's a far cry from those clunky 29-inch platforms.
In order to have very short chain stays (432 mm),
we had to thoroughly rework the composition of the frame.
Thanks to these short chain stays the bike is very agile and effective when corners get tight...
A straighter seat tube angle allows efficient pedalling,
especially on steep climbs,
which is what this bike is really made for.

Downhill, the META AM 29 features a long reach to offer welcome stability,
the META AM 29 can go fast, very fast!
That’s been proven to shine at the highest level at the EWS and no matter what your level,
it’s able to provide a good dose of fun.
